Features

Tests are automatically applied in a timed sequence with lamp indication
of test status.
‘Test complete’ and ‘Pass’ lamps will indicate a satisfactory test.
‘Fail’ lamps, one for each test, will indicate specific faults.
For setting up and calibration purposes a Manual Mode is also provided.

Description

With reference to ASTA, BSI and other regulatory body requirements, it has become standard practice supply mains powered electricals products with pre-wired cord sets fitted with either moulded-on or re-wireable connectors.

In response to cord set manufacturer requirements, for a production line tester to ensure 100% build integrity and electricals safety of their product, Clare developed the Mains Cord Test Set. This instrument, when coupled with a dedicated test enclosure, can provided complete test cycles of 3 seconds and will check Earth continuity, Line and Neutral continuity/polarity, insulation between all cores and between cores and outer surfaces of plug tops and other fitted connectors.

Specifications

Earth Bond Resistance:	High current injection (variable 0-30 Amps) through the Earth conductor.
Continuity:	Low voltage d.c. through Line and Neutral conductors.
Polarity:	Applied simultaneously with the Continuity test.
Flash Test LN-E:	0-2.5kV a.c. from Line and Neutral conductors to the Earth conductor.
Flash Test L-N:	0-2.5kV a.c. between Line and Neutral conductors.
Flash Test LN Plug Surface:	0-5kV a.c. from Line and Neutral conductors to outer surface of plug top.
Leakage:	Monitored at Flash Test voltage - nominal trip equivalent to 5 Megohms.

The tester can also be set for 2-core lead sets, with the Earth test being replaced by a sensing circuit to detect the presence of a 3-core lead if incorrectly loaded.
